Tonight at 9:00 ET, PBS will air a two-hour special by Emmy-winning filmmaker Linda Garmon. The 90-minute documentary will be followed by a half-hour panel discussion.

The special, The Truth About Cancer, seeks to answer: How far have we come in the fight against cancer?

According to the PBS wesbite, the film is "part science, part personal catharsis, part character-driven storytelling." It is narrated by Garmon, who tells the moving story of her husband's battle with mesothelioma. In the film, Garmon visits her husband's treatment centers, exposes the truth about cancer survival rates, and addresses the difficult decisions associated with terminal cancers.

Beyond Garmon's husband, the film features stories from other cancer patients and health-care professionals. According to a New Jersey newspaper article, the content is shocking, thought-provoking, upsetting, and heart-warming all at once. Garmon says, "In sharing my husband's story and the stories of other patients, I hope to shed light on [the truth about cancer]." The film is the third installment of PBS' Take One Step series.
