Welcome to the MesoRC Blog. The MesoRC Blog is a source of information and support for mesothelioma patients and their families.
We are dedicated to providing readers with the most up-to-date mesothelioma news in a concise, understandable manner. We seek to establish a comprehensive and thorough collection of articles on asbestos, mesothelioma, and cancer by featuring stories from across the nation.
The MesoRC blog also contains videos to educate viewers through an exciting visual medium. In presenting the most current mesothelioma-related news and videos, we hope visitors gain an understanding of the personal, local, and national implications of asbestos exposure.
Beyond news stories, the blog features resource and support categories to provide guidance on coping with mesothelioma; we present advice on dealing with some of the specifics of the disease that are often overlooked. In offering this information, we hope you are able to find support, encouragement, and confidence in the MesoRC community.

Five years ago, my father was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is scar tissue inside the lungs. How is this different from Mesothelioma? He was a carpenter all his life, working around asbestos, cement, dust, etc. The Dr. says there is nothing they can do for him. I started giving him Vit E capsules five years ago, and he made some improvement. Vit E is great for clearing up scar tissue inside and outside the body.
Also, do you know if Pulmonary Fibrosis or Mesothelioma is hereditary?
Thank you for your help.
Irene,
I’m sorry to hear of your father’s diagnosis. As the social worker here I speak to both Mesothelioma victims and people with other asbestos related illnesses. My training is in social work and not as a medical provider, so I am unable to answer your medical question specifically, but I can make some suggestions. Contact a hospital/clinic that specializes in treatment of asbestos related diseases for more information and another opinion. We have a list on our site or contact me directly for additional info. Also, it would be important to learn as much as you can about his diagnosis and other asbestos related illnesses (including meso) and explore treatment options. You can find additional information and support on our website at http://www.mesorc.com, through the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization at http://www.asbestosdiseaseawareness.org, and the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation at http://www.marf.org. We also have a Discussion Board at our website for people to gain support and information from each other. I encourage you to use the discussion board to share memories, ask questions, and give feedback to others. You can access the Discussion at http://forum.mesothelioma-center.com. We are hoping the Discussion Board will be a place for hope and compassion. I’ve found people affected by this disease and other asbestos related diseases are often isolated and feel alone in their experience, we hope the MRC will bring people together. You and your family will be in my thoughts. Please contact me directly with additional questions at socialworker@mesorc.com.
