ACandS
AC&S (ACandS) of Lancaster, PA was founded in 1958 as an insulation contracting company engaged in the installation of thermal and mechanical insulation. In 1969 ACandS was acquired by Irex Corporation, a holding company which also owns several other specialty contracting subsidiaries.
Like many other insulation products of the time, ACandS insulation products contained asbestos. The fibrous mineral asbestos was considered a crucial component in insulation due to its heat resistance, low thermal conductivity, durability and low cost. Any ACandS insulation products manufactured between 1958 and 1974 contained asbestos. In January, 1974, ACandS adopted a policy that it would no longer handle or install asbestos-containing materials.
